Embolization is a procedure that is commonly performed by interventional radiologists and has been successfully applied to arteries in every part of the body to stop bleeding, block abnormal vessels, and treat tumors. UFE applies specifically to embolizing the uterine arteries for the purpose of treating symptomatic fibroids.

Northside Hospital has long been considered the premier women’s care hospital in the Atlanta area. The hospital is dedicated to giving patients the most current and up to date options for treatment for all their health care problems.  The interventional physicians at Northside have performed several hundred uterine artery embolizations and have one of the largest UFE practices in the Southeast.

Interventional radiologists can utilize ultrasound, CT scan, and x-rays to guide procedures to deliver cancer fighting therapy directly to the site of the tumor using smaller incisions than standard surgical incisions, causing shorter hospital stay and recovery times.
